Swim Serpentine

Though not purely a Masters event and open to all ages, is a mass participation event in Hyde Park’s iconic lake, venue for the London Olympics Open Water swimming. 5,000 swimmers took part, in waves, in one mile and two mile swims with the water being just over 15C on Saturday September 16th, colder than the sea at present so wet suits preferred!

Jack Carter 16, (one mile) came third in his age group and 9th. overall. His time was 23 minutes. Fantastic result in his first Serpentine swim.

Jenny Ball 79, was taking part for the second time and swimming one mile, finished in 38 minutes. Overall placing 913. 399th lady and 1st. in age group.

The whole day was great fun, swimmers being rewarded with a dip in a hot tub, a lovely medal and a goodie bag.
